The Story So Far |
|
 |
Some Extracts Taken from the Oxford Mail
Monday 25th June 2005.
The Local branch of The Wolvercote District British Legion has
been on Ulfgar Road for Years. However, after dwindling numbers
the club will fold on the 3oth June 2007.
However on the 21st July a new Community based club will open
under a new name “The Canal Club”. This club will be run
voluntarily by Emma Buckett (23) and Andrew Paterson (27).
Emma’s family grew up in Wolvercote and some of the people who
have lived in Wolvercote for years will remember The Castle
family and the Bucketts from St Peters Road.
The aim of The Canal Club is to be the focal point of the
community of Wolvercote and beyond. The new club will be
completely redecorated and will be launching a new Ladies and
Mens dart and Pool team (Depending on interest) along with an
Aunt Sally team. A new addition to the club will be the donated
snooker table from The Wolvercote Boys Club which will be
available for play every day unless there is a function on.
